The first harvest of the season is called Ichiban-cha ,also called Shincha(新茶).
The first harvest is distinguished by the fact that the tea leaves are still "fresh," resulting in a stronger and clearer scent. The initial crop is thought to be the best loose leaf green tea available throughout the year.
